Treat Your Mum in Dartmouth This Mother’s Day 

Dartmouth is the perfect place to treat the special lady in your life this Mother’s Day. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to take mum, grandma, aunty or any other special ladies in your life, Dartmouth has something for everyone to enjoy; from lovely Sunday lunches, to traditional Devonshire cream teas, or exciting days out!  

 

Enjoy a Devonshire Cream Tea 
Dartmouth has an abundance of excellent Cream Tea spots to choose from.  

Situated near Dartmouth Castle, Dartmouth Castle Tearoom is a lovely café boasting stunning views of the Dart Estuary. They serve an excellent range of drinks, cakes, sandwiches and those all-important scones, with a generous serving of cream and lashings of jam!  

Another fabulous cream tea spot is The Singing Kettle, a quaint and traditional English tearoom serving delicious homemade cakes and cream teas; they do a great breakfast too if mum is more of a savoury lady!  

 

Take Mum Out For Lunch 

If your mum is a bit of a foodie, treating her to a nice lunch or dinner will surely show your appreciation for her. 

 Radius 7 at Leonards Cove is offering a fabulous Sunday Lunch, offering an interesting selection of starters, mains and deserts; choose 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £27.  

For a warming Sunday Roast head to The Royal Castle Hotel, or if you’re looking for a cosy pub atmosphere, Bayards Cove Inn will be serving their popular Sunday roast, plus they have a great selection of local wines and ales to wash it down with.

Get Active  

Our picturesque coastal town has so many great activities, right on your doorstep. If you’re a family who loves to stay active, you’ll certainly get your adrenaline-filled fix here!  

Dartmouth is known for its watersports; you could try your hand at paddleboarding with The Paddle Shack, or kayak around the bay with Sea Kayak Devon to discover secluded beaches and secret coves.  

If you’re looking for something low cost, you can show mum you care by spending some quality time together exploring the beaches and coastal paths that Dartmouth, and the surrounding area, have to offer. Take the South West Coast Path to Blackpool Sands, explore the Berry Head Nature Reserve in Brixham or walk the Dartmouth Castle to Compass Cove trail.  

 

Enjoy Piggy Cuddles at Pennywell Farm

If mum is a big animal lover, you could treat her to a day out at Pennywell Farm.  

The whole family will be sure to enjoy cuddling the piglets, bunnies and guinea pigs. You can also immerse yourself in farm life for the day with activities like goat milking, deer feeding and egg collecting.

Take a walk around Greenway House 

Greenway House is a beautiful estate where Agatha Christie and her family would spend their holidays relaxing by the river, playing croquet, or imagining her latest mystery book.  

This National Trust owned building is an excellent place to take mum for the day, especially if she’s an avid reader! The house is filled with a delightful collection of ceramics, silverware and books, owned by Agatha Christie. 

Outside the woodlands trail down to the stunning Dart Estuary is a beautiful place to stop and watch the world go by; or you could treat mum to a spot of lunch at their Barn Café. For a greener and more leisurely travel, why not take the Greenway Ferry from Dartmouth?  

 

Visit Coleton Fishacre House and Garden 

Originally owned by the D’Oyly Cart family, Coleton Fishacre House and Gardens is an Arts and Craft-style house imbued with charm and grace.  

You will be able to explore and spend some quality time with the special females in your life and as spring is on its way, you’ll see an abundance of stunning flora within the garden, including beautiful cherry blossoms and delicate daffodils.  

There are plenty of walks you can take with captivating views of the rugged coastline and hidden coves. They also have a lovely café, the perfect place to grab a light bite to eat, a piece of cake or a warming cup of coffee.  

 

Avon Mill Garden Centre 

For green-fingered mums, visiting a garden centre is an excellent activity to do together!  

Based outside of Dartmouth, near Kingsbridge, Avon Mill is an independent garden centre situated in the beautiful Avon Valley.

As well as their garden centre, they also have a lovely café to grab a bite to eat, local art shops, a boutique and a florist! After your visit to the garden centre, you can take a walk down the valley, along the old Primrose Railway Line.
