Dartmouth Vegetarian Restaurants

Dartmouth’s Top 5 Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurants

National Vegetarian Week is celebrated each year to show how switching to a more veggie-friendly lifestyle can benefit not only ourselves, but other animals, the environment and the planet. Of course, you don’t have to be the ‘perfect’ vegetarian, but by simply swapping just a couple of your meals a week to veggie or vegan can make a massive impact! In honour this event here’s a list of the top 5 vegetarian-friendly eateries in Dartmouth.

Jenny Koos

With an emphasis on creating flavoursome food with an Asian fusion, Jenny Koos is a great place to stop for a fresh and tasty veggie meal. The menu here at this café and deli changes daily but usually includes traditional warm noodle soups and fragrant curries alongside tacos and baguettes with an Asian twist! The owner, Jenny, was born in Malaysia and draws from her Asian routes, recalling flavours from childhood whilst being inspired by her Devonshire surroundings by working with local suppliers to stock the best produce from the West Country. You can find Jenny Koos in the Old Market Square in the heart of the town centre.

Café Alf Resco

Café Alf Resco is somewhat iconic in Dartmouth, radiating with atmosphere, their vibrant yet relaxed environment is the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a light snack in the town centre. Café Alf Resco’s emphasis is on serving up local, freshly prepared food and drink with plenty of flavour. The bread they use is baked in Dartmouth and pastries are made in house. On offer here is a veggie breakfast as well as a range of baguettes, sandwiches, cakes and Danish pastries. We’d also recommend trying a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice or a cup of coffee using their own home blend.

Platform 1

Located on the embankment, Platform 1 is a modern and stylish champagne bar and restaurant. Despite mainly serving seafood, they also have an excellent range of vegetarian dishes such as cauliflower steaks, roasted goats cheese or a vegetarian sharing platter consisting of halloumi, hummus and flatbread. Kick back and admire the panoramic views from your table and immerse yourself in the history of Platform 1 which can be seen all around this Grade I listed railway ticketing office. Enjoy your meal with a glass of your favourite wine, beer or indulge in a speciality cocktail.

Dartmouth Arms

The Dartmouth Arms is traditional pub in the heart of Dartmouth. It’s situated in a fantastic location with amazing harbour views next to the historic Bayards Cove. They offer a great selection of veggie meals to tantalise your taste buds such as freshly prepared hand stretched pizzas, a luxury veggie burger, fajitas, and a smoky three bean chilli. The Dartmouth Arms’ ambient and cosy atmosphere pairs perfectly with their selection of homemade pub-grub and variety of local ales or ciders. They also have a specials board which change daily and often have a vegetarian option to choose from.

Radius 7

Located at Leonards Cove in Stoke Fleming, Radius 7 is a chic yet rustic restaurant which offers stunning sea views in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Radius 7 pride themselves on serving only the best local, seasonal produce and creating great-tasting food to deliver outstanding flavour. On their vegan & vegetarian menu they serve fettuccine with red pepper sauce and roasted veg, a Greek salad and a vegan burger. If you’re looking to share a meal, you could opt for their harvest board, consisting of falafel, mixed olives, seasonal veg, hummus and ciabatta – yum!

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg! There are plenty of other great vegetarian-friendly eateries across the region. Do you have a favourite veggie spot in Dartmouth? Let us know by tagging us in any food photos you share on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
