Best Breakfast and Pancake Spots in Dartmouth

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it boosts your energy levels and alertness, whilst also providing other essential nutrients. Fortunately, Dartmouth is not short of places to grab a hearty filling, brekkie or a quick bite to set you up for the day. As pancake day is also just around the corner, you might be looking for somewhere to tuck into some yummy pancakes, so we’ve collated our favourite breakfast stops!

Café Alf Fresco

With an emphasis on providing a relaxed environment and serving up local and freshly prepared food and drink, Café Alf Fresco is a great place to stop and grab breakfast. They can offer a generous full English breakfast with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to wash it down or if you fancy something sweeter, why not try their cinnamon toast, or choose from their selection of locally-made cakes and pastries. Café Alf Fresco will be participating in pancake day this year so pop down to see what sweet and savoury pancakes they have on offer!

Dartmouth Castle Tea Room

If you’re looking for somewhere with a view to dine for breakfast, Dartmouth Castle Tea Room has stunning views across the estuary. Choose between a bacon sandwich, scrambled egg on toast or a hearty Full English breakfast to nourish and fuel your body. Dartmouth Castle Tea Room also offer incredible warm cream teas with lots of jam, fruit and a generous helping of clotted cream! You can sit inside or outside, admire the view and watch the boats sail by.

Bayards Cove Inn

Serving breakfast from 8am – 11am, Bayards Cove Inn is an excellent place to start the day, especially if you’re travelling with vegetarian or plant-based companions! They offer a delicious veggie and vegan breakfast, and their Eggs Florentine served with Greek yoghurt hollandaise tastes as good as it looks! For those of us who can’t live without bacon, they offer a tasty traditional English, as well as breakfast baps.

The Singing Kettle

The Singing Kettle is a Grade II listed, old English tearoom in the heart of Dartmouth. The tea room is full of charm and character, and they also serve up a delicious breakfast! If you’re looking for a healthier traditional breakfast, they offer a lovely plate of smoked salmon and scrambled egg. You’ll be happy to know that The Singing Kettle will be serving up some tasty treats for pancake day this year, with 4 flavour options to choose, including sugar and lemon, and chocolate, strawberries and ice-cream pancakes!

Kendricks Restaurant

If you’re someone who won’t have a chance to tuck into some pancakes for breakfast, but are still looking for somewhere to celebrate Shrove Tuesday, you’ll be happy to know that Kendricks Restaurant, a Californian-style restaurant, will be offering pancakes as part of their specials. Kendricks’ atmosphere is vibrant yet comfortable, with helpful and attentive staff who strive to serve tasty food at a high standard.
