Top Summer Events in Dartmouth

Dartmouth is a great place to holiday any time of the year, but it’s particularly beautiful and atmospheric in the Summer. The town brings a wealth of exciting events for visitors and locals to enjoy from regattas and district shows to markets and theatre performances, read on to find out the top events in and around Dartmouth that you won’t want to miss.  

 

Dartmouth Shakespeare Week 20th Anniversary, Dartmouth Castle (19th – 23rd July) 

After 2 years, the Inn Theatre return to Dartmouth Castle for Dartmouth Shakespeare Week. For their 20th anniversary production, they are performing perhaps one of Shakespeare’s most infamous and best-loved plays, Hamlet. The production will run from 19th – 23rd July with the backdrop of Dartmouth Castle where guests are welcomed to bring a picnic and bask in the atmosphere before the play. 

 

Wildlife Walk with Ken Neal at Dittiscombe Estate, Slapton (24th July, 31st July, 7th August, 14th August, 21st August, 28th August) 

Guided by Ken Neal, take a wildlife walk around Dittiscombe Estate in Slapton to deepen your understanding of the natural world and discover the small things you can do to help nature, increase biodiversity, and encourage wildlife with your own garden and green spaces at home. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.  

 

Totnes & District Show, Berry Pomeroy (31st July) 

Over 100 years old and entertaining visitors every year, the Totnes & District Show is still an exciting day out for all. They will be hosting exciting displays, demonstrations, and parades in the main ring as well as show jumping competitions, craft tents, a horticulture marquee, and a food hall with a wide selection of trade stands.  

 

Summer Illuminations at Babbacombe Model Village, Babbacombe (2nd – 4th August, 9th – 11th August, 16th – 18th August, 23rd – 25th August, 30th – 31st August, 7th Sept, 14th Sept, and 21st Sept) 

Over the summer holidays, Babbacombe Model Village will be showcasing their special Summer Illumination Event. The model village will be transformed to create an enchanting atmosphere with thousands of miniature lights along with special fire and lighting. Make sure to visit during the day to take part in their new Crazy Golf, which is included for free with a day-time admission ticket.  

 

Dartmouth Farmers Market, Old Market Square, Dartmouth (13th August) 

If you love browsing food markets, pop down to Dartmouth Farmers Market on 13th August to discover the wonderful goods on sale in the Old Market Square. You can expect to find fresh, seasonal produce as well as artisan food products made by local businesses.  

 

Dartmouth Regatta Week, Dartmouth (20th – 27th August) 

Dartmouth’s infamous Regatta Week returns to the River Dart on the 20th and 21st August with their Family Fun Weekend. The Official Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta will occur from the 22th – 27th August. This iconic event attracts thousands of visitors to Dartmouth for a number of sailing races, family events and much more!
