Elgar’s ever popular Enigma Variations for solo piano is teamed with music in the same style by F.S. Kelly. Alex introduces Kelly’s fascinating life through spoken introductions and his beautiful piano music. A gold medallist rower at the 1908 Olympic Games and an officer in the Royal Navy in WW1, his life as a pianist and composer was cut short when he died on the Somme.
