Hidden in lovely Strawberry Valley, just one mile from Dartmouth, are the beautiful Fast Rabbit Farm Gardens. The Gardens are based on two valleys at right angles to each other. One contains the River Black,a lake and ponds, the other a stream and several ponds. The valley sides have wide contoured grass paths with wonderful views of the Gardens and surrounding countryside. There is a vast collection of ornamental plants, camellia, magnolia, rhododendron, pieris, roses and endless herbaceous plants and waterlilies. The native wildflowers of primrose, bluebells, celandine and campion provide a spectacular backdrop.
Every effort has been made to cover all seasons with an extensive range of trees to provide shelter and added interest. In the summer roses festoon many of the trees providing scented cascades of colour. Autumn has stunning colour from the numerous acers and accompanying trees and shrubs.
Winter is a time to enjoy the shape of trees, the colour of conifers and several early camellias. January heralds spring with swathes of snowdrops. February starts primroses and daffodils which then progress into March with late April into May being bluebell time and the main display of
rhododendrons, Japanese cherries and many flowering shrubs and trees.
There is wild life in abundance and for a quiet time by the lake a view of kingfishers and the sound of buzzards wheeling in the sky above.
